Features and Design
Ivation Electronic Digital Safe is a compact safe best suited for people who only want to store small items. The interior, as expected, is not particularly roomy but does offer decent storage space. It can store small to medium sized items including important documents and data storage media devices. There is a bit of wasted space based on the height of the safe so it may have been a good idea to add a second shelf to stack stuff on top.
It looks sturdy, professional and comes standard with a nice beige color finish that looks nice. It will protect your valuables from prying hands but be aware that it is not burglar proof. In other words, if I professional thief wanted to get into the safe…they will…without much trouble.
Having said that this digital safe box is a very good buy for anyone seeking basic security of their items. Maybe a parent would want to store items away from their curious children or maybe a teenager would want to store items away from their curious siblings or dorm roommates.
This particular model is not fire-resistant. It is not recommended to store any flammable items because the insulation will not withstand extreme heat. Also, if you do use this safe for storing documents be sure to put them in a special fire resistant document bag first…just to be on the safe side.
The Ivation Electronic Digital Safe weighs only 13 pounds making it lightweight and easy to install. It has pre-drilled anchoring holes in the back of the safe box. You can use the heavy-duty anchors and bolts for mounting the safe to the wall or the floor. The anchors and bolt will remain hidden from sight after installation. Both the heavy-duty anchors and bolts come included in the retail package. Given the light weight of the safe box, it is recommended that you bolt it firmly in one place for the benefit of the added security.
Security
This safe has a digital keypad as well as an override key just in case you forget your passcode. There is a small plastic cover on the front of the safe and to the left of the keypad. Removing this cover will reveal a lock for the override key.
Setting up your own personal passcode right out the box is a simple task. You have the option to use a code from 3 to 8 digits in length. Bear in mind it will only accept 1 code per safe. The keypad is powered by four AA batteries which are included in the package, and a low-battery indicator will alert you to change the batteries.
As mentioned, the safe box has basic security via two 0.55″ diameter steel heavy-duty deadbolts which lock the safe securely. The two bolts intersect with the frame to keep the door secure from either side. The locking mechanism is programmed to automatically lock down as soon as the knob is turned back to the closed position which is a thoughtful feature.
Although this is not designed to be a gun safe some people have stored their guns in this model. Expect to store no more than three small guns with some ammo. There is a beep sound for each time a key is pressed on the keypad. For some this may be annoying especially if you want to get into the safe without alerting anyone. Also, if you incorrectly input the combination three times, it will beep very loudly for 20 seconds…that may possibly deter a thief. The keypad also has light indicators which will be pretty useful when trying to get into the safe in the dark.

It is a small safe and can be used to store a number of different small items. Ideal use of this model would be for small valuables such as jewelry, money, documents etc.
It is a sturdy all-steel safe box but one thief could easily pick it up so, it is necessary to bolt it to a wall or to the floor. The bolting kit is included as well as the step by step instruction manual.
The two locking bolts do an adequate job of keeping the contents of the safe box from prying hands. The electronic lock is a nice feature and the personal code can be set on the digital keypad in a matter of seconds. This compact safe box provides its users with a reasonable level of protection against any type of unauthorized access.
