It is certified to protect its contents against a fire and will keep the general snooper out but if you are looking for something more anti-theft then this is not the safe for you.

As mentioned above this is not a high security safe. Its purpose is not to prevent a determined thief from breaking into it or even walking away with it for that matter. Its main focus is fire protection. In the event of a house fire this safe will keep its contents un-damaged for the tested and certified time of 30 mins.

It has been ETL verified that it can withstand a temperature of 1550 degrees Fahrenheit and protect items such as CD’s, DVD’s and USB drives damage free. Thirty minutes is the maximum time however in a less intense or further situated fire you can expect a longer protection time.

So I ask you, is fire damage your main concern? Do you need somewhere to safely place cash or end of day receipts? The SentrySafe 1100 is very popular with store owners and people in offices because it can be used as a cash box. Cash boxes in general tend to be small but you won’t find many that are also fireproof.

Sentry Safe 1100 Design And Construction

Its interior size is 3.5 x 12 x 7.5 inches so it is a mini safe or cash box purely designed for smaller items. It is fairly durable for a box of that size and may even seem a little heavy.

The extra weight is probably due to the in-built foam that surrounds the interior edges of the box. The foam contains water that will evaporate and dissipate heat in the event of a fire. An ingenious idea.

The locking mechanism itself is nothing to brag about but it suits the purpose of this safe and the lid will stay shut in a fire. It is a simple lock and key system with no digital coding or fingerprint scanning to set up. No batteries are needed either. You just shut the lid, turn the key and you’re done. Just don’t expect the lock to keep a determined burglar out. It is strong but not that strong.

I personally would have a larger tough anti-theft safe that I could put the Sentry Safe 1100 into. That way a burglar won’t be able to get to my files due to the outer safe and a fire won’t get to my files due to the inner safe. There are home safes that are both anti-theft and fireproof. However, expect to pay a little more than the price of this little safe.

Conclusion

This is a very good budget fire safe that has quite a few interesting features considering its size.. If all you are looking for is a fireproof box for protecting those small items then you could do a lot worse than this mini safe.

It has a nice sturdy handle and is small enough to be hidden someplace or taken away with you on a trip. An overall good all round mini cash box at an affordable price.
