Tactical Gun Cabinet – Your Intelligent Firearm Solution
A tactical gun cabinet is purpose built to protect your tactical weapons against theft/fire, and makes it possible to adapt the layout to accept the different type and size of guns. It is specifically built and intended to easily accept multiple tactical weapons and give quick and convenient access when needed.
What are the common features of a tactical gun locker or safe?
The tactical series of gun cabinets, lockers and safes are manufactured by several brands, including Browning, Stack-On, Winchester, and SecureIt. With such a choice in this type of safe, it is possible to easily find one that perfectly matches your needs. The smallest safe is built to accept 2 tactical weapons with extra space for standard rifles, shotguns, pistols or accessories. The large gun safe on the other hand can easily accept 24 or more tactical weapons.
Adjustable layout
Similar to any worthwhile gun safe, it is very easy to adapt the layout of these safes to easily adjust the space. The true tactical interior has the ability to configure the shelves and barrel rests to make it possible to accept virtually any firearm. Other useful interior features include optic protection and door storage.
Fire protection
The fire protection rating varies with the different brands, but most of the tactical gun cabinet and safe units can accept a temperate of 1400 to 1680° F for a period of 30 to 100 minutes. Preferably, a safe should give protection for a period of up to 60 minutes for most favorable protection.
The placement of the safe can have an effect on the safes ability to protect the guns and accessories. For instance, a fire retardant location like a cement basement or garage can prolong the time the weapons are protected.
Strength of security
The strength of the tactical home safe is a major aspect that needs careful consideration. A solid 12-gauge steel body for the construction of the safe is preferable, while a 4-way locking system with multiple 1–1-1/2 inch steel locking bolts to secure the safe and prevent the would-be thief’s attempt to pry open the door. Plus, the lock bolts are even more difficult to tamper with if able to retract by turning the door handle. A recessed door can further increase the pry-resistance. A further feature is a thick steel plate positioned behind the lock to prevent any attempt to drill the locking mechanism.
Design
Many of the tactical gun cabinet and safe units are built with a gray or matte black finish, while steel accent pieces and riveted steel plates help to create the more distinct look. On opening the safe, the interior is fitted out with a gray carpet to avoid metal against metal contact and stops scratches to the firearms. The large gun safe is usually equipped with a convenient door panel that include loop and hook holders to accept handguns, clip holders and other accessories.
